About the Artist
Patti was born in Seattle near Lake Washington and has always been drawn to water, nature and a beautiful environment. Art has always been her first love and she has pursued this throughout her life. A move to California in high school brought many changes. The sunny climate and light influenced her direction. She entered USC and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in design. She found work in illustration, advertising, and interior design prior to committing to watercolor once her family was a bit more grown. Workshops with Charles Reid and painting along the coast with Roger Armstrong reinforced her desire to paint loose and free. Oils followed and she found inspiration from many Laguna artist after moving to Dana Point.Artist Statement - I feel very blessed and privileged to live in the beautiful coastline area of California. I work in an impressionistic style and my aim is to capture and convey beauty in the everyday and ordinary. I am most fascinated by color and the effect of changing light on the subject. I hope to convey happiness and a bit of mystery to the viewer. I draw inspiration from my surroundings and our travels, mainly to Italy, Spain and Mexico.
